Coming to you live from my office desk

Scene: The time is 4:14 p.m. on another dreaded Thursday. I’m pretty sure my ass is taking root in my office chair. I haven’t gotten up in approximately 2.5 hours and my legs are slightly numb. This day has been completely dead and i’m pretty sure I have read every Buzzfeed post that has been published in the last week. Some even twice. I’ve paid my student loan bill for the month, read blogs written by people far more interesting than myself, looked up books about chicken farming on Amazon, dabbled on Pinterest, and the list goes on and on. I just decided that I am going to take a walk on the wild side. I am coming to you live from my little 6×6 work space.

My boss is currently stationed no more than 15 feet away from my. He, of course, is working like he’s Santa Claus on Christmas Eve and I’m sitting here illegally posting my nonsense on the internet. My fingers are dancing around the keyboard like ballerinas. Touching each key ever so slightly as to not let my boss hear the constant clicking and question what I could possibly be doing. As of now he has not noticed. Or at least I don’t think he has.

I am the new girl in the office. They plucked me fresh off the dock of recent college grads. All of their eyes are on me, or at least I thought they would be. To my surprise, I have been left alone in my little bubble with my computer and my endless supply of free, office, keurig coffee. Who knew being a grown up would be so great?! This is my first full time job since graduating from college in May and I have to say, I’m really loving it. My office is 10 blocks away from my apartment, there is a great view of downtown Richmond outside every window in the building, and I am actually using my degree! This whole growing up thing isn’t so bad after all.

Update: My boss just turned around and gave some serious side eye…..

As I sit here, planted in my comfy chair, sipping on my free coffee, I am thankful. I am thankful for what I do and what I don’t do. I am thankful to have a job that challenges me and allows me to learn new things everyday. I am also thankful to have a job that gives me downtime, and alone time, so I can do whatever I want.

Don’t get me wrong. I work my ass off for these people but this whole illegal, office blogging is giving me quite a rush. I might have to try this more often.

Update: Boss is off phone! Boss is out of chair! BOSS IS WALKING TOWARDS ME!!!

gtg, don’t want to get fired, bye!
